NEW Book! ‘Terms Of Belonging’

Simone Young conducted the Sydney Symphony Orchestra in their February performance of Mahler’s Third Symphony at the Sydney Opera House earlier this year. The fourth movement alto soloist was Israeli Noa Beinart. She was sublime. One of the notables in the audience that night was the Hon Tony Burke MP, Member for Watson and, at the time, Minister for Immigration and Multicultural Affairs. In the wake of the 7^th October 2023 Hamas atrocities in Israel many of his constituents gathered at the opera house to shout ‘Death to the Jews’ and his condemnation of the riot was lukewarm at best. But he is no different to many of his cowardly colleagues and that is why antisemitism is so virulent in Australia.
